There will be an informational meeting for 8th Grade parents and students who are interested in going on the annual trip to Washington D.C. on August 21, 2008, at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria.  Contact Bob Fehr for more information at robert.fehr@mnps.org.

Traffic Control for Croft
Parents you are encouraged to follow the following guidelines for dropping off your children and parking on the first day of school:

  1. Drive slowly, watch for children and parents walking in the driveway and crossing the parking lots.
  2. Parking spaces are available in the lot on the left of the building at the end of the athletic field, on the right side of the building in the area of the loading dock, on the back side of the gym and the back side of the cafeteria.

Morning Drop Off & Afternoon Pick Up:

  • All car riders must be dropped off at the side of the building by the gym.
  • Only the right-hand lane is to be used at all times in the morning. FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR CHILDREN, DO NOT PASS OTHER CARS.
  • If you must park in the side lot, please pull through only the curb lane and then turn when you get to the lot. Do not pass or go around the cones.
  • We recently painted the curb yellow, designating that as the drop off area. Your child should only exit in this area.
  • PLEASE pull all the way forward to the front of the drop off area to prevent backing up Elysian Fields.
  • Make sure your child is ready to exit the car quickly. If you need more time to unload, pull to the side lot.
  • Students should not be dropped off before 8:40 a.m. unless they are at Fun Company or eating school breakfast. We do not provide adult supervision outside the building - you put your children at risk by dropping them off before 8:40 a.m.
  • Drivers picking up students at the regular dismissal time are asked not to arrive at Croft before 3:40 p.m. because PE classes use the athletic field and drivers and non Croft students should not approach students while in class. Please pick a lane and turn your engine off.  Students are dismissed at 3:55 p.m. and cars will be released at 4:00 p.m.  Do not get out of your vehicle.  Students must wait to board vehicles until instructed.  Vehicles that are abandoned may be ticketed and towed by Metro Police. Students may not be allowed to ride home other than their regularly approved mode of transportation unless they have a note from their parent or guardian and it is approved by the principal.

Food For Thought

Feed Your Vocabulary and Feed the World!

How many times have I sat and wondered, "how can I combine my love for vocabulary and do something truly good for mankind?" Well the truth be told, never! However, someone else has! At freerice.comyou can learn new words and feed hungry people around the world.

FreeRice has two goals: 1) Provide English vocabulary words to everyone for free and 2) help end world hunger by providing rice to hungry people for free through the United Nations World Food Program.

This will not cost you anything more than your time. FreeRice has corporate and individual sponsors. All you have to do is log on, learn new words and have fun!
